“Julie to Perform 3 Main Event Concerts at new ‘Hebtember 14’ Festival - & 'Glasgow 14' Opening Ceremony!”

We are delighted to announce that Julie will be performing 3 very special ‘Main Event’ concerts within the programme for the unique 'Hebtember 14' Festival which takes place throughout the Outer Hebrides over a 2 week period in September.

A truly special tour for Julie and an excellent representation of the international appeal of music from the Islands brought home to all; which will see her perform at venues on the Isle of Lewis (11 September), the Isle of Harris (12 September); and returning to her roots to play her 'local' Village Hall in Carinish, North Uist on 13 September.  Three very special nights not to be missed!!

'Glasgow 14' - Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony:
As previously announced; just a reminder that Julie will be taking part in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Official Opening Ceremony tomorrow evening (Wednesday 23 July at 8.00pm) at Celtic Park Stadium*.
The Opening Ceremony will be performed to a 40,000 strong audience and an estimated TV audience of over a billion. The other announced acts include Grammy award winner Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle, Amy MacDonald and Nicola Benedetti (Nicola's interview on BBC Radio 2's 'Folk Show' will be broadcast Wed 23 July at 7.00pm ahead of the Opening Ceremony).

“Julie to Perform at Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony”

After months of secrecy, Julie was delighted to formally announce last night, that she will be taking part in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Official Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 23 July at Celtic Park Stadium.
The Opening Ceremony will be performed to a 40,000 strong audience and an estimated TV audience of over a billion. The other announced acts include Grammy award winner Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle, Amy MacDonald and Nicola Benedetti.

As Julie prepares to perform with Nicola Benedetti this evening (14 July) in the Guildhall, London, as part of the 'Commonwealth Connections' concert, it has been announced that Nicola has become the first ever Scottish classical artist to enter the Top 20 of the Official UK Albums Chart with her new record 'Homecoming: A Scottish Fantasy', released this week on Decca Classics, and which features Gaelic songs from Julie, who collaborated closely with Nicola on the project.

As well as landing the No. 1 spot in the classical chart, the album is simultaneously No. 19 in the pop chart, above Ellie Goulding, Arctic Monkeys and Jack White. It is the first time a solo British violinist has scored a top 20 album since Vanessa Mae in 1995 and Nigel Kennedy in 1989 and is her highest-charting yet.

“Julie Looking forward to a Summer of Great Music Festivals”

After enjoying a superb day performing at the ‘Bannockburn Live’ event at the weekend, Julie is now very much looking forward to what is going to be a fantastic line up of performances at top music festivals throughout the summer in the UK, France and Denmark.

Starting with the Tiree Music Festival on the stunning Inner Hebridean Island of Tiree on Sunday 20 July and then to the Award Winning Cambridge Folk Festival on Sunday 3 August; opening the ‘Fringe by the Sea’ in North Berwick, Scotland on Monday 4 August; over to Brittany, France on Thursday 7 August to the Festival Interceltique de Lorient; back to Stornoway, Isle of Lewis for the unique Grand Concert at the Harris Tweed Hebrides Tattoo 2014 on Saturday 9 August; down to beautiful Hampshire in the south of England for the Wickham Festival 2014 on Friday 15 August; and finally over to Denmark for a great weekend at the highly acclaimed Třnder Festival on Saturday/Sunday 30 & 31 August 2014.

If all of that is not enough to look forward to; prior to all the above mentioned festivals appearances; Julie will be performing in the City of London’s Guildhall (Great Hall) on Monday 14 July in what will be a highly unique concert. The ‘Commonwealth Connections’ concert will see superstar violinist, Nicola Benedetti, collaborating with some of Scotland’s top trad musicians including Julie, Phil Cunningham, Aly Bain, Duncan Chisholm, Tony Byrne, Eamon Doorley, Ewen Vernal and James Mackintosh.

With Nicola releasing her much anticipated new Album ‘Homecoming – A Scottish Fantasy’*  on Monday 7 July......this will be a night not to missed!

“Julie Headlining at ‘Bannockburn Live’ this Weekend”

As previously announced, just a reminder that Julie will be performing; along with many of Scotland’s finest musicians; at ‘Bannockburn Live’ this coming weekend.

‘Bannockburn Live’ is a special 2 day ‘Homecoming Scotland 2014’ signature event that will take place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June 2014 (from 10am - 7pm).  The event; which will immerse everyone in Scotland’s history and culture; will be commemorating the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn and celebrating the best of Scottish traditional and contemporary music, food and drink and more.  Along with Julie; who will headline the Event this coming Sunday; 29 June; Dougie MacLean, Roddy Woomble, Roddy Hart and The Lonesome Fire, The Treacherous Orchestra, Karine Polwart and Rachel Sermanni, plus many other superb artists will entertain the crowds in the Music Arena’s Main Stage.

“Julie to Headline Opening Night at Fringe by the Sea 2014”

Following the official launch of the Festival’s 2014 Programme yesterday (14 June); we are delighted to announce that Julie will be headlining on the opening day/evening of this year’s ‘Fringe by the Sea’ on Monday 4 August 2014 at 8.00pm.

This “Fringe like no other” is a unique event that takes place predominantly in 2 fantastic Spiegel Tents situated around the harbour area in the stunning town of North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland and runs from 4-10 August this year.  Covering many genres of music including, folk, soul, jazz, 60s – 80s pop and bluegrass, etc, this event attracts many major musicians, comedians and authors, etc.  This year’s programme and line up, in addition to Julie, includes ‘The Manfreds’ (featuring Paul Jones and several original band members); the legend that is Geno Washington; Rachel Sermani; The Wrigley Sisters and Scotland’s favourite duo Phil Cunningham & Aly Bain!!
