“Julie’s New Album ‘Gach sgeul’ Released Today!!”

We are delighted to confirm that Julie's much anticipated 4th studio album, 'Gach sgeul’ (‘Every story') is officially released today – Monday 24 February 2014.

Mouth music, work songs, tales of love and loss, ‘Gach Sgeul’ is a beautiful collection of songs from Gaelic Scotland.  Recorded in the Highlands of Scotland, Julie’s album features a fantastic array of handpicked musicians including; husband Éamon Doorley, Duncan Chisholm, Tony Byrne, Donald Shaw, Tom Doorley, Ewen Vernal, Iain Sandilands, Michael McGoldrick and RANT fiddles.

When officially launching the new album during the recent Celtic Connections Festival, Julie said:  “I am fortunate to come from a place where telling tales, sharing stories and singing songs are not only a national pastime, but rather signposts showing us where, and who, we have come from.  They help shape our identity and give us a sense of belonging.  They make us laugh, move us to tears, and give us moral guidance.

“A few of these songs come from childhood days; some arrived at my door more recently. Some I learned whilst soothing small babies to sleep. Some I learned whilst failing to soothe small babies to sleep!  All of them have a reason to be on this album. Each song has its own story, and now in addition, I too have my own personal story for each one.”

Julie will be touring selected UK venues in April and May as well as performing at several Festivals in both the UK and Europe, this summer.  Please see the ‘Tour Dates’ page for details of those already announced; and look out for many more dates to be added soon! *
