“Julie Getting Ready for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2014”

Following what has been an amazing few weeks of performing at the most successful Celtic Connections Festival in its 21 years (*including the launch of her new studio Album ‘Gach sgeul’ (‘Every story’)), touring the UK with the highly acclaimed Transatlantic Sessions and performing at a 'Celtic and Balfolk Night' in Rotterdam, Holland on Saturday, Julie is taking stock before gearing up for the forthcoming BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2014.

As previously announced, Julie will be co-presenting the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2014 with the Station’s ‘Folk Show’ host, Mark Radcliffe. This prestige Awards Ceremony, which will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary, will be held in the Royal Albert Hall in London on Wednesday 19 February 2014, with a live broadcast time of 8.00pm on BBC Radio 2*.  In addition, Simon Mayo will be presenting his 'Drivetime' show live from behind the scenes at the Albert Hall from 5.05pm - 8.00pm; and Julie and Mark will be amongst his guests!

Julie’s Celtic Connections Concerts Featured in ‘Cuirm @ Celtic’ on BBC Alba TV:

 

We were also delighted to confirm recently, that Julie’s ‘Celtic Connections’ Concert at The Old Fruitmarket on 22 January (*which also saw the launch of her new studio Album ‘Gach sgeul’ (‘Every story’)) was filmed by BBC Alba TV as part of their ‘Cuirm @ Celtic’ series of programmes.

Julie’s Concert was broadcast on Saturday 8 February 2014 at 9.00pm, repeated on Valentine’s Day – Friday 14 February 2014 - at 10.30pm, then if you were unlucky enough to miss it on both dates; it was available on the BBC TV iPlayer up to a few days ago.

“Julie on Tour and on TV This Week !!”

Transatlantic Sessions National Tour:

Following the first 2 sell out concerts as part of the final weekend of Celtic Connections in Glasgow*, Transatlantic Sessions is touring in England this week, with the first night  (ie, Monday 3 February) enthralling a sell-out crowd at the Royal Festival Hall in London**.

The National Tour moves on tonight (Tuesday 4 Feb) to Liverpool, then to Gateshead, then Birmingham, with the final night in Manchester on Friday 7 February.

Following what was an amazing few weeks of performing at the most successful Celtic Connections Festival in its 21 years (ie, in attendances at concerts, number of sell-out concerts and highest ever box-office returns!), Julie is delighted to be involved with the Transatlantic Sessions Tour.

Julie’s Celtic Connections Concert to Feature in ‘Cuirm @ Celtic’ on BBC Alba TV:

 

We are also delighted to confirm that Julie’s ‘Celtic Connections’ Concert at The Old Fruitmarket on 22 January (which also saw the launch of her new studio Album ‘Gach sgeul’ (‘Every story’)*) was filmed by BBC Alba TV as part of their ‘Cuirm @ Celtic’ series of programmes.

The series of 4 episodes, kicked off last week with Capercaillie’s 30th Anniversary Concert in which Julie featured as a special guest; and the second programme will be Julie’s own Concert (also with special guests) which is being broadcast on Saturday 8 February 2014 at 9.00pm. 

The programme, which lasts for one hour, will also be repeated on St Valentine’s Day – Friday 14 February 2014 - at 10.30pm.

“Julie to Headline the Tiree Music Festival”

We are delighted to confirm today's announcement  that Julie is to headline the Tiree Music Festival 2014.

The official Festival announcement said "Following a tremendous 2013, Tiree Music Festival (TMF) has announced internationally acclaimed ‘Brave’ singer, Julie Fowlis, as the first act for this year’s festival taking place on 18 – 20 July." (see:

In her response to the Festival’s announcement, Julie said “I am very excited to have been invited to the Tiree festival, it’s one if my favourite places in the world and it’s a real honour to be involved in the 2014 festival.”

Transatlantic Sessions Weekend to Round off Celtic Connections for Julie:
Following an amazing few weeks of performing at Celtic Connections, Julie is enjoying being involved in the amazing Transatlantic Sessions concerts, with the first one enthralling a sell out crowd at the Concert Hall last night (Friday 31 January).
The second concert, which will be part of the final night of this highly acclaimed winter Festival, is again in the Concert Hall on Sunday 2 February, before all involved, including Julie, embark on the UK Tour through to 7 February 2014.  All details can be seen at Julie's 'Tour Dates' page.
 
JULIE 'LIVE' ON BBC RADIO SCOTLAND - TUESDAY 28 JANUARY 2014

“New album announced”

We are delighted to announce that Julie's much anticipated fourth studio album, 'Gach sgeul / Every story' is available to pre-order from this store NOW.

 
A mature offering of carefully selected songs, with sensitive and lush arrangements from a host of brilliant musicians from Scotland, Ireland and further afield, the album is due for general release on February 24th 2014, but is available to pre-order direct from Julie here at the store, for worldwide shipping early February.

 
Julie will also be touring selected venues in April and May in Scotland and England, please see the Tour page for details, and please note more dates are to be added.
 
Meanwhile, Julie prepares to embark on several major performances at the renowned Scottish festival, Celtic Connections, starting this week. The Opening Concert*, where she will premiere her collaboration with violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti (16th January 2014 in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall) has now sold out.
 Julie will also be launching the music from her own new album at a unique performance featuring musicians who contributed to the recording in the Old Fruitmarket on January 22nd (also sold out).  In addition to several other appearances, Julie will finish the festival as part of the acclaimed ‘Transatlantic Sessions’ concerts (on 31st January and 2nd February 2014 in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (limited ticket availability for both).

A sell out crowd was packed into the Old Fruitmarket for Julie's Celtic Connections new Album 'Launch' concert last night (22 Jan) and gave her and the full 'guest' band backing her on stage, a fantastic response.  Julie wants to thank everyone for being there and for their warm and welcomed response to the new Album tracks.  The new Album ('Gach sqeul' ('Every story') is now available for pre-order via the website 'Store'.
