“Julie to Feature in new BBC ALBA TV Series - Innsean an Iar - Hebrides”

'S gann gu bheil àite sam bith ann far am bi dùthaich agus ceòl cho dlùth ri chèile is a tha anns na h-Innse Gall. Chan iongnadh sin, seach gun robh spiorad a' chiùil an seo riamh a' tighinn on t-saoghal nàdarrach.

Ann an sreath ùr air BBC ALBA TV, bithidh Julie Fowlis a' toirt cuireadh dhuibh tighinn cuide rithe a chur fàilte air an dlùth-cheangal eadar sluagh, creutairean agus ceòl.

Anns a' chiad phrògram san t-sreath, bidh Maighread Stiùbhart, Seumas Geumach, Gillebride Mac 'Ille Mhaoil agus Julie a' seinn òrain a bhios a' toirt beò dealbh dhen Mhuir.

There are few places in the world where landscape and music are as closely entwined as the Hebrides. It is not surprising; music here has always drawn inspiration from the natural world.

In a new series on BBC ALBA TV, Julie Fowlis narrates an unforgettable celebration of the close relationship found on the islands between people, wildlife and music. In the first programme, Margaret Stewart, James Graham, Gillebride MacMillan and Julie perform songs inspired by the sea.

If you have been watching the superb series ‘Hebrides – Islands on the Edge’, narrated by Ewan McGregor, over recent weeks on BBC 1 TV, then you will be fully aware of the breathtaking beauty, the culture, the amazing wildlife (both on land and in the surrounding seas), the dramatic scenery and the ever changing weather of the Hebridean Islands.

This new 4 Episode, companion Series entitled Innsean an Iar - Hebrides, which starts on Tuesday 4 June at 8.30pm on BBC ALBA TV, will be narrated by Julie, who along with many other Gaelic artists; and under the Musical Directorship of Ingrid Henderson from Lochaber; will be singing songs inspired by the islands, the wildlife, the people and the scenery, etc.

Drawing on the same extraordinary and dramatic filming of the BBC 1 programme, this will be a Series celebrating the link between Gaels and their culture, their environment, the nature around them and how they fit into Gaelic songs.

A fantastic Series not to be missed; for further details see:
The 4th and final Episode in the Series can be seen tonight (Tuesday 25 June) at 8.30pm.
If, however, you were unfortunate enough to miss the first 3 episodes, you can now view them on the BBC TV iPlayer via this link:
