“Julie Looking Forward to Forthcoming Islands ‘Heisgeir’ Performances”

After all the excitement and ‘red carpet’ glamour of the ‘Brave’ Premieres in the US and here in Scotland over the last few weeks, Julie is very much looking forward to getting back to her musical and heritage roots, with 2 very special performances of her highly acclaimed ‘Heisgeir’ project.

This unique musical work combines newly composed and traditional material influenced by Heisgeir (or The Monach Isles as they are often referred to locally). Building on her own family connections to Heisgeir, Julie has taken inspiration from the geography, history and legend of these now uninhabited islands to produce a new musical work. Using lyrical, filmic, narrative and musical devices, to bring different aspects of the work to life, ‘Heisgeir’ features acclaimed musicians: Éamon Doorley, Duncan Chisholm and Ross Martin.

Julie and the band are performing ‘Heisgeir’ on Saturday 14 July at the multi-award winning Hebridean Celtic Festival in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis; and then as one of the Series of Summer Concerts staged by Seall Events on the Isle of Skye on Tuesday 17 July.

For all those interested in the Hebridean Celtic Festival, you will want to check out this  promo video:

“‘Premiere’ Weekend all round for Julie and ‘Brave’ including Fashion News!!”

As we reported earlier, Julie was both delighted and honoured to be attending both the European and Highlands Premieres of the new epic Disney-Pixar animated movie ‘Brave’; in Edinburgh and Inverness on Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 July respectively.

What a weekend it turned out to be with ‘Hollywood’ coming to Scotland; the setting for the film of course; and although the weather was more Caledonia than California, the crowds who turned out to see the action were not disappointed with the ‘red carpet’ action!!  All those fortunate enough to have a hot ticket to see the exclusive screenings, were also treated to Julie not only attending but also performing songs from the soundtrack at both events!!

For your ease of reference and to catch up with the overall atmosphere and events of the weekend, we have listed lots of links to images, videos and media articles for you to check out as you wish.   Julie features in many but not all of course, as there is just so much coverage of the events!!!

Julie’s Fashion:

Julie was also once again delighted to be wearing fabulous exclusive outfits by Scottish couturier Sandra Murray ( for her special ‘Brave’ Premieres and you can see her in many of the images from the links below.  You will also see that the main theme was based on the specially designed (for Disney-Pixar for ‘Brave’) and now officially registered, ‘Drumbroch Tartan’ (which is also now available to buy!!).
On this note, Hebrides News Today published an article on 2 July which in addition to reporting that 'Brave' will raise the profile of the Gaelic language across the World, also highlights the collaboration and the bond and inspiration of the Gaelic language between Julie and Sandra Murray when creating her 'special' collection of outfits for the 'red carpet'.  You can read the article via this link:

Specially Commissioned Jewellery:

Julie (as you will see from many of the images), was also wearing a spectacular and unique pendant necklace which was created, with Julie’s input, by top Edinburgh jeweller and Royal Warrant holders, Hamilton & Inches, especially for the European Premiere of ‘Brave’ in Edinburgh.

The (£15,000) piece, which can be worn as a pendant or a brooch, featured a central cabochon amethyst in a rich royal purple, set within brilliant cut diamonds encrusted silver, interwoven into a Celtic knot, all strung on pearls.  The aim was to weave together the strong Celtic, medieval and royal elements of the film and take inspiration from Scottish history.  For more details visit:

The pendant is to be auctioned off for charity and further information/details will follow......................................................
