“Julie Looking Forward to Forthcoming Islands ‘Heisgeir’ Performances”

After all the excitement and ‘red carpet’ glamour of the ‘Brave’ Premieres in the US and here in Scotland over the last few weeks, Julie is very much looking forward to getting back to her musical and heritage roots, with 2 very special performances of her highly acclaimed ‘Heisgeir’ project.

This unique musical work combines newly composed and traditional material influenced by Heisgeir (or The Monach Isles as they are often referred to locally). Building on her own family connections to Heisgeir, Julie has taken inspiration from the geography, history and legend of these now uninhabited islands to produce a new musical work. Using lyrical, filmic, narrative and musical devices, to bring different aspects of the work to life, ‘Heisgeir’ features acclaimed musicians: Éamon Doorley, Duncan Chisholm and Ross Martin.

Julie and the band are performing ‘Heisgeir’ on Saturday 14 July at the multi-award winning Hebridean Celtic Festival in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis; and then as one of the Series of Summer Concerts staged by Seall Events on the Isle of Skye on Tuesday 17 July.

For all those interested in the Hebridean Celtic Festival, you will want to check out this  promo video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGehYrQNhpE&feature=youtu.be

“‘Premiere’ Weekend all round for Julie and ‘Brave’ including Fashion News!!”

As we reported earlier, Julie was both delighted and honoured to be attending both the European and Highlands Premieres of the new epic Disney-Pixar animated movie ‘Brave’; in Edinburgh and Inverness on Saturday 30 June and Sunday 1 July respectively.

What a weekend it turned out to be with ‘Hollywood’ coming to Scotland; the setting for the film of course; and although the weather was more Caledonia than California, the crowds who turned out to see the action were not disappointed with the ‘red carpet’ action!!  All those fortunate enough to have a hot ticket to see the exclusive screenings, were also treated to Julie not only attending but also performing songs from the soundtrack at both events!!

For your ease of reference and to catch up with the overall atmosphere and events of the weekend, we have listed lots of links to images, videos and media articles for you to check out as you wish.   Julie features in many but not all of course, as there is just so much coverage of the events!!!

Julie’s Fashion:

Julie was also once again delighted to be wearing fabulous exclusive outfits by Scottish couturier Sandra Murray (http://www.sandramurray.com) for her special ‘Brave’ Premieres and you can see her in many of the images from the links below.  You will also see that the main theme was based on the specially designed (for Disney-Pixar for ‘Brave’) and now officially registered, ‘Drumbroch Tartan’ (which is also now available to buy!!).
On this note, Hebrides News Today published an article on 2 July which in addition to reporting that 'Brave' will raise the profile of the Gaelic language across the World, also highlights the collaboration and the bond and inspiration of the Gaelic language between Julie and Sandra Murray when creating her 'special' collection of outfits for the 'red carpet'.  You can read the article via this link: http://hebridestoday.com/2012/07/profile-of-gaelic-language-to-rise-links-with-brave/

Specially Commissioned Jewellery:

Julie (as you will see from many of the images), was also wearing a spectacular and unique pendant necklace which was created, with Julie’s input, by top Edinburgh jeweller and Royal Warrant holders, Hamilton & Inches, especially for the European Premiere of ‘Brave’ in Edinburgh.

The (£15,000) piece, which can be worn as a pendant or a brooch, featured a central cabochon amethyst in a rich royal purple, set within brilliant cut diamonds encrusted silver, interwoven into a Celtic knot, all strung on pearls.  The aim was to weave together the strong Celtic, medieval and royal elements of the film and take inspiration from Scottish history.  For more details visit: http://www.hamiltonandinches.com

The pendant is to be auctioned off for charity and further information/details will follow......................................................

“Julie to Attend & Perform at both the European and Highlands Premieres of ‘Brave’ this Weekend!!”

Julie is preparing for what will be an exciting, unique and amazing weekend in Scotland as she attends both the European and the Highlands Premieres of  the new epic; and already a US Box Office smash hit; animated movie ‘Brave’.

Julie is not only attending both events but will also be performing at them along with her band (which of course includes her husband Éamon Doorley, as well as highly acclaimed musicians Duncan Chisholm (fiddle) and Tony Byrne (guitar)).

EUROPEAN PREMIERE – EDINBURGH – SATURDAY 30 JUNE

The first of these two special events will of course be the European Premiere, to be held at The Festival Theatre, Edinburgh on Saturday 30 June and this will be the ‘official’ Closing Night Gala of the Edinburgh International Film Festival (http://www.edfilmfest.org.uk/films/2012/brave).

A full house of 1900 is expected at two separate screenings, with huge crowds expected to greet the stars for the ‘red carpet’ arrivals, from 3-4pm onwards.

The night will be sure to bring some Hollywood ‘glitz’ to the Capital (if not the LA weather!!), so although no tickets are available for the Theatre, you might want to go along to see some well known faces on the ‘red carpet’............with the following stars from the film attending:  Robbie Coltrane (voice of Lord Dingwall), Kelly MacDonald (voice of Princess Merida) and Kevin McKidd (voice of Lord MacGuffin and his son, young MacGuffin).

Other attendees will include: Ewen Bremner, Kate Dickie, Daniela Nardini and Brian Cox along with Pixar’s team including, Lanarkshire-born Soundtrack Composer, Patrick Doyle, Mark Andrews (Director) and Katherine Sarafian (Producer).    Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond, is also expected to attend..................

HIGHLANDS PREMIERE – INVERNESS – SUNDAY 1 JULY 2012

This is a Private Event, organised by Disney-Pixar in association with VisitScotland, to be held at the ‘OneTouch Theatre’ within Eden Court, Inverness on Sunday 1 July 2012 (with 2 screenings at 3pm and 6.45pm) and in addition to Julie, will be attended by Kevin McKidd; Mark Andrews, Katherine Sarafian, and Peigi Barker (Scottish singer/young Merida).

The direct link to the event information is:
http://www.eden-court.co.uk/whats-on/shows/brave-preview but as no tickets are available to the general public unfortunately, you might just want to go along on Sunday to see those involved as they arrive on the ‘red carpet’ prior to the event screenings?
