“Opportunity for North Uist: VOTING TODAY ONLY”

Hi everyone, I am personally asking for help once again! For a great cause. Would you please consider picking up the phone (up to ten times!!) to support the building of a new community space in North Uist?

The small crofting township of Sollas used to have two meeting places. One was an old barn, which was destroyed by the hurricane which struck these islands in 2005.

THE REMAINING MEETING PLACE IS THE OLD PRIMARY SCHOOL WHICH WAS NO LONGER MAINTAINED BY THE LOCAL COUNCIL AFTER IT WAS CLOSED IN 2002 AND WAS IN A DESPERATE STATE OF DISREPAIR WHEN THE PEOPLE OF SOLLAS ACQUIRED IT IN 2004. THE TAIGH SGIRE SHOLAIS CENTRE PROJECT IS OUR RESPONSE TO RECONSTRUCT MUCH OF THIS COLD,LEAKY AND ROTTING OLD BUILDING AND CONVERT IT INTO A COMFORTABLE COMMUNITY HALL WHICH WILL BE THE NEW HEART OF THE COMMUNITY.

Please spread the word! The number to vote UNTIL MIDNIGHT ONLY is 08716268888.  Votes only cost 11pence each and you can vote up to ten times from any number.
